Google launch Android Wear Apps on Play Store

by -

After the official unveiling of Android Wear devices last week Google have now finally uploaded a selection of Wear Apps to the Play Store. In total there are currently 33 apps available to download to your wear device although Google do insist more will follow soon.

The selection is rather limited in terms of its actual content with three of the apps available Google based content. Hangouts and Maps need no introduction while the third Google application on offer is Android Wear. This is the actual software which will be needed by those with Wear devices to allow syncing between a mobile device and Wear, receive notifications and generally interact with your device.

The best of the rest are typical applications which we were partially exposed to during the Wear demonstration at I/O. These include the EAT app which allows users to order (and pay for) various take-away meals on their Wear device. For the avid travellers you can now download either (or both) an American Airlines and Delta app which will allow users to sync details for your next flight, book tickets, check flight status and information. In addition the Guardian app is also available to download for those who want to stay up to date on all the breaking news stories from around the world.

Other Apps available include Pinterest, Allthecooks Recipes and Runtastic Running & Fitness. Currently all apps listed for the Wear devices are free although as per usual do not be surprised if there are in-app purchases hidden within the apps.
